Dr. Carole Gelker

After an outpatient, minimally invasive back procedure, I woke up and I was unable to move or feel my right leg. A post surgical MRI showed damage to my spinal cord.

Wes was assigned to me for in home physical therapy. Wheel chair bound for 3 months, he and I began a now 16 month patient-therapist relationship. I have made significant gains related to mobility, strength and recovery of nerve sensation.

I’ve had multiple physical therapists after hip, back, and knee replacements. Initially, I was struck by Wes’ ability to communicate clearly and his genuine capacity for concern. As he and I worked together, I learned more about Wes as a person. His high, native intelligence, excellent training, and experience of neurological, physical, and psychological processes were applied to all aspects of my recovery. His professional demeanor, as well as his capacity for empathy is evident in each session. Words cannot express my gratitude to him for helping me improve from a failed surgical procedure. I’m fortunate Wes was assigned to me and will continue to work with him for any ongoing physical therapy needs of my own.
